Chris Harrison dropped a bombshell on The Bachelor fans last night when he unexpectedly announced who would be the next man on the popular reality TV series looking for love: two-time runner-up Nick Viall.
“I’m nervous,” 35-year-old Viall admitted after officially being named the new Bachelor. “I’m very excited.”
Former Bachelor Ben Higgins joined After Paradise co-host Michelle Collins along with other Bachelor Sean Lowe to announce Viall’s new role. Higgins even offered a word of advice.
“There’s going to be times in this that there’s no right and some really tough moments, but in the end, it can really work out well and it can be the best experience you’ve ever had, so buckle up. Your life is about to change big-time, but all for the better,” Higgins said.
Viall is getting his fourth shot at finding reality TV love after almost being engaged to both Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe. But while he’s excited to get back in on the rose action, fans are on the fence.
“Nick viall is the bachelor lmao lmao finally something to help me stop watching,” one Twitter user posted. “ABC really couldn’t do better than Nick Viall?” another added. “Who decided to make Nick Viall the new Bachelor? This season is about to be worse than Juan Pablo’s season. WTF,” another fan hilariously chimed in.
But regardless of whether or not you’re rooting for Viall to find love for real this time, one tweeter summed up what we’re thinking: “I’ve spent way too much of my life watching Nick Viall on television.”
Luckily Viall does have some fans out there, although they appear to be few and far between.
“If Nick Viall were the bachelor right after Andi’s season I would have projectile vomited but he’s not so bad anymore,” one Twitter user posted.”I personally love @viallnicholas28 and think he is a genuine person. He deserves to find love! #TheBachelor,” another said.
