15 years ago today a series of four coordinated attacks struck the United States on September 11, 2001 in the deadliest terrorist attack to ever take place on American soil. Two passenger airplanes struck the North and South towers of the World Trade Center complex, the third struck the Pentagon and the fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. Almost 3,000 people were killed in the attack and over 6,000 others were injured. It was a devastating, shocking and pivotal moment in American history.
Today, the world remembers the terror of that day, as well as the outpouring of love and support that flooded New York City following the attacks. As our own small tribute, we found some of the most beautiful images commemorating 9/11 on Instagram.
