It has been said that a girl’s friendships will be more meaningful than their romantic relationships ever will. It’s true. There’s nothing comparable to the heartbreak that stems from losing a best friend. If there’s one thing that celebrities have in common with us, it’s how relatable their types of friendships. Except Taylor Swift. None of us can relate to having all of our best friends in one music video.
Here are the six kinds of friendships you’ve had, have or will have, as told by some of your favorite celebrities.
1. Delena: Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez
For once, we’re not referring to the breakup between Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber. This decades-long friendship will be the one you’ll talk about to your children. You’ve been friends since you were tweens but as you grew up, you have realized that the memories of bonding over accidentally eating glue in elementary school just weren’t enough to keep you glued together. You’ve had your ups and downs and you’ve grown for the better, even if that meant growing away from each other. While you’ve acknowledged that you won’t be as close as you once were, you’ll always wish each other well and be there when they need you most.
2. Kleo: Kate Winslet and Leo Dicaprio
That special boy-girl friendship, it’s the kind where you might just make a pact to marry each other if you’re both still single by 30. This person is your soulmate, er, platonically. You’re probably perfect for each other, but you haven’t realized it, yet. Your close relationship probably caused some insecurity issues with significant others and while everyone around you is impatiently waiting for you two to announce your engagement, you’re just friends. Seriously. At least, for now.
3. Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake
You are living proof that exes can still be friends after a breakup without any hard feelings or awkwardness. Just because it didn’t work out romantically doesn’t mean you have to erase each other from your lives. Although you’ve gone your separate paths, it’s always a laugh when you come together as if no time has passed.
4. Kengi: Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid
The yin to your yang, you both coordinate your outfits to scream to the world how in sync you are. Everyone knows you’re pretty much a package deal, an invite for one is basically an invite for both of you. Every great memory you’ve ever had includes them in some form or another. You share similar aspirations and despite others thinking that your friendship might become competitive, jealousy is an unfamiliar concept. Their highs are your highs and their lows are your lows. Your love for each other is so strong, strangers probably think you’re a couple.
5. Katy Perry vs. Taylor Swift:
You don’t like each other and you don’t care who knows. You started off as friendly but throw in sharing an ex and the same career goals is a sure way to add oil to the fire. Suddenly, you’re both avoiding each other and the longer it goes on, the more awkward it gets. While we all wish we could release a top-charting track alluding to the whole ordeal, you’ll just have to resort to social media shade-throwing like everyone else. Get ready to subtweet.
6. #SquadGoals: Aziz Ansari, Jennifer Lawrence, and Amy Schumer:
Three is definitely not a crowd. Everyone gets serious squad envy when you’re all together, you all give Taylor Swift‘s squad a run for their money. You’re all so similar in your professional aims and personality that it was no question that you’d be friends. Your compatibility has even led you all to become co-workers. Friends who work and play together, stay together.
