This Man Dragged a Little Girl by Her Hair in a Walmart & The Internet is Pissed

A disturbing photo featuring a man dragging a little girl by her hair around a Walmart went viral on Facebook earlier this week and the internet has something to say about it. Posted by Erika Burch, the photo shows a large bearded man holding onto a little girl by her hair and making her march alongside a shopping cart in a Cleveland, Texas Walmart.

Burch posted the photos Monday without accompanied captions:

Based on the photo alone, the girl is clearly upset. But according to Burch, it’s worse than you think. The young girl was reportedly saying, “Please stop. I promise I won’t do it again. Please stop!”

In an interview with Click2Houston, Burch says she approached the man and told him to let go of the little girl’s hair, but the man told her to “mind [her] own business.” Luckily a Walmart employee also got in on the conversation and the man eventually let her go. The young girl then ran to the Walmart employee while Burch called 911 to report the incident.

Burch posted the photos to her Facebook in an effort to increase the number of reports to authorities. Based on commenter’s reactions, she definitely succeeded. Local police confirmed that they have since launched a joint investigation with Child Protection Services.

“The Cleveland Police Department has received numerous calls in regards to a child having her hair pulled last night at Cleveland Walmart,” authorities posted on Facebook Tuesday. “We want to assure the community this case is currently being investigated by our Detective Division. CPS has been contacted per our policy and is also investigating this case. A joint investigation is currently being conducted by both agencies.”
