As we continue to mourn the loss of Brangelina, new details concerning their pending separation emerge, and the latest is absolutely heartbreaking. Not only did 52-year-old Pitt not realize that his marriage was in danger, but he also begged Jolie to wait after she said she wanted a divorce.
“She sat down, talked to Brad and offered to file [for divorce] together,” a source close to the actress told People. “She said, ‘This is what I’d like to do.’ She explained everything. Angelina did what she felt she needed to do.” While she was upfront about her decision, Pitt was still admittedly “wrecked” by the news and had his children in mind above all else.
“He was appealing to her to do this quietly – not to save the marriage but to consider the well-being of the children – and it was ignored,” says the Pitt source. “He is just wrecked by this.”
However, despite his supposed concern, Pitt remains under investigation for child abuse by the Los Angeles Police Department and the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services. On September 14, Pitt allegedly got “verbally abusive” and “physical” with one of the couple’s children and at least some of the others. The following day, Jolie officially filed for divorce.
Pitt had previously been in counseling “to try to figure out how to make things better” for their children and even “begged [Jolie] to press pause” and slow down the proceedings, a Pitt source told People. Unfortunately he was not interested in reconciling, but instead wanted to “protect and prepare the kids for the massive upheaval that was to come.”
“He was willing to do anything, change any habit, change any lifestyle, to do what had to be done to make this work,” the source stated. “And by ‘make this work,’ that means doing what has to be done to make even a split one that is amicable and in the best interests of the children.”
At this point, we feel like our whole lives were a lie. First Brangelina is no more, than Brad Pitt is a child abuser? WHAT IS HAPPENING?! We’re sure there will be more drama to come.
