Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus are shaking things up at the Voice Season 11. But veteran judge Blake Shelton is bringing his A-game. Taking on the oldest and the youngest contestants of the season, Team Blake offers a range of characters who will pluck your heartstrings with their guitar.
The oldest artist of the bunch, Dan Shafer, is a 56-year-old musician who currently gigs with a cover group called Classic Rock All Stars around Nashville and Tennessee. The youngest contestant is Gabe Broussard, a 16-year-old high school student has played alongside his idol Marc Broussard (no relation.) Broussard has a rare eye condition, which might mean he would go blind before he’s 40. So he’s making the most of the eyesight he has now. The most notable of Team Blake’s recruits is Dana Harper, the daughter of NBA star player Derek Harper. Harper sang a calm and powerful cover of “Jealous” by Nick Jonas, and had three judges fighting over her. The only reason Cyrus didn’t join the fray was because she didn’t believe she had anything to teach Harper. Harper was that good. Oddly, she chose Team Blake.
Not that we have anything against Shelton of course.
