After canceling the rest of her Revival World Tour (and topping the Instagram charts), Selena Gomez is reportedly back in rehab. In August, she told fans that she was struggling with anxiety, panic attacks and depression as side effects of lupus, an autoimmune disease.
“Selena is dealing with lupus, but this break is to focus on her mental health,” US Weekly reports. “She can go to a very dark place.”
According to US Weekly‘s sources, Gomez has checked into an intense treatment facility in Tennessee and is spending time with her family and friends in the Nashville area. Understandably (and sadly for us), she’s not working on any new music.
A source close to the singer told People that Gomez’s hiatus is “absolutely not related to alcohol or substance abuse” and that she was feeling “optimistic about the future.” The singer is simply putting her mental health first, an admirable action, for sure.
“Thank you to all my fans for your support,” Gomez said when she first announced her break. “You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.”
