At 73 years old, Mick Jagger became a father — again. His girlfriend Melanie Hamrick, a 29-year-old prominent ballerina from New York City, gave birth to the rockstar’s eighth child today at a New York hospital.
“Mick was at the hospital for the arrival,” Jagger’s publicist said in a statement. “Mother and baby are doing well and we request that the media respect their privacy at this time.”
Jagger and Hamrick first started dating in 2014, when she was just 27 years old. The two have managed to keep a relatively low profile despite controversial circumstances; they first got together shortly after Jagger’s ex, L’Wren Scott, committed suicide.
When the couple revealed this summer that they were expecting, the internet lost it, with many questioning how the hell Jagger’s manhood still functioned. Now that the child has finally arrived, the response remains the same.

That he is, John Couch. Jagger is already a father to seven other children with previous partners, his oldest being 45 years old. When the shocking news broke this summer, a source close to the singer said he was “surprised and happy” about the pregnancy, emphasis on surprised.
“This is great news,” the source added. “It will be Mick’s eighth child and nothing fazes him. He’s been incredibly supportive.”
The baby’s gender and name have yet to be revealed.
