Never a dull day in Riverdale!
The fourth episode focused on Archie’s affair with the school’s music teacher, Miss Grundy. When Betty found out what was going on, her protective nature, combined with her journalistic tendencies, kicked into high gear, and she did some digging, finding out that Grundy was not who she claimed to be. When Archie confronted her with this information, Grundy told him a story about changing her name to escape from her abusive husband.
Meanwhile, Jughead began his attempt to stop the closing down of the Twilight, Riverdale’s drive-in movie theater, but the town officials remained adamant that the property needed to be sold and torn down. Veronica found out that her mother was engaging in some business with Riverdale’s dangerous biker gang, the South Side Snakes. And the viewers found out that Jughead, whose father is a South Side Snake, was living in the drive-in theater, and needed to find a new place to go if he didn’t want to be part of the snakes.
After Betty’s mom found out about Archie’s affair, she forced Miss Grundy out of town. The end of the episode saw Miss Grundy in a new town with her eye on a new teenage boy. The sweet and wholesome Julliard graduate may not be as innocent as everyone thinks.
