7 Things You Didn’t Know About Kesha

|

If there’s one thing we absolutely love about Kesha, it’s her music. We’re thankful to her for blessing us with the greatness that is “Tik Tok,” “Blah Blah Blah” and “Your Love Is My Drug.” She has provided us with some of the greatest party anthems ever.

There was even a (strange) point in time when the world mistakenly thought that Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones was her father. Considering one of her most famous lyrics, “but we kick ’em to the curb unless they look like Mick Jagger,” we were grossed out for a while there… Luckily, this wasn’t true, which is proof that there’s still a lot to be learned about Kesha.

Her personality is as unique as her personality and from the glitter to the ripped stockings, Kesha is not your regular singer. Underneath the glitz and the controversy, there is so still much more to Kesha than many people know. In honor of her birthday, here are seven little-known facts about the life of our girl Kesha.

1. Kesha had a hard time growing up.

As a teenager, Kesha had a hard time making friends. She has said that she rarely fit in and wasn’t often accepted for who she was as a person. Kesha dyed her hair purple and wore velvet pants as a way to express herself but, as teenagers can be, her peers were less than understanding.

2. She once broke into Prince’s house.

Kesha initially used the “$” symbol in her name as a way to stylize it and to make it look cooler. There wasn’t any financial motive behind it and Kesha has even said that the sign was ironic because she was broke at the time as a struggling singer. She changed to her given name after leaving rehab and reemerging back onto the music scene.
