Some people just aren’t in touch with reality and Simone Milasas is one of them. Milasas has a new book coming out called Getting Out of Debt Joyfully. Already I’m cringing because the words debt and joyfully should never be in the same sentence together. Australian site MamaM!a published an excerpt from her new book and it’s wild. It’s truly the craziest financial advice I’ve ever heard.
In the excerpt, Milasas starts off by talking about paying your bills. Her advice? Don’t pay them. “If you pay your bills first, you will always have more bills,” she writes. “When you pay the bills first, the universes says ‘Oh, okay. This person wishes to honor their bills. Let’s give them some more bills.'” Which is literally the worst financial advice you could give anyone. Bills don’t keep coming because we wish to have more. Bills keep coming because that’s what they are supposed to do. You get bills every month and then you pay them to keep your electricity, water and, most importantly, wifi on and then you pay them again.
I'm so pissed off. I've fucking wasted 30 years paying bills. I should have just willed them away!!

Milasa continues to talk crazy and says that “money follows joy. Joy doesn’t follow money.” So when you stress about money, that is actually making you lose more money. She suggests that everyone start a savings account and put 10% of every dollar you make into it, which is the only sound advice you should take from this excerpt. Literally, do not read anything else. Milasas goes on to say that the 10% savings account isn’t for paying off bills or getting out of debt. That money is there to honor you and that you shouldn’t spend it on bills and what not.
I’m serious when I say this is the craziest thing I’ve ever heard. This is a real quote from the excerpt: “The logical point of view might be, ‘Well, I have to pay the bills, and the only money I have is the money in the 10 per cent account, so I have to use that.’ I am asking you to not function from the logical point of view.” She is literally saying do not be logical with your money and savings.
I just can’t with this lady. You can read the whole excerpt here if you dare. It will definitely make you laugh.
