Sophia Bush’s Nostalgic Bday Insta Proves B. Davis & P. Sawyer Are Forever

One Tree Hill has been off-air ever since its last over-the-top, six-Nicholas-Sparks-movies-jammed-into-one sentimental final episode in 2012. Still, longtime fans can now have some respite, because angsty hipster Peyton Sawyer and excitable popular girl Brooke Davis have as strong of a friendship off-screen as they did on (without the stalkers, slut-shaming, and cheerleading, of course.)

Sophia Bush penned an emotional tribute to Hilarie Burton in honor of her 35th birthday, and it has fans of the show beside themselves.

“Sister! We’ve been through a lot,” Bush writes in a caption as nostalgic and bubbly as B. Davis herself. “At least 374 hair colors together. Crushes. Heartbreaks. Hangovers. Halloweens. Tears and laughter. Fear and joy. Successes and burn-it-to-the-ground failures. We’ve fought like rams and loved like family.”

She then points out how long it has been that they have known one another, and how their friendship has only strengthened over the years.

“It’s such a thrill to be in this place with you, 14 years after we first met and danced too late in bars — still giddy that we were finally 21 — and to watch you shine. You’re a champion for your community. An incredible mom. You’re the alpaca whisperer. You’re whip smart and razor sharp and deeply tender. There is no one I would have rather been on the world’s most insane roller coaster with. And I’m so glad there’s evidence that we both used to overpluck our eyebrows, undeniably, on the internet forever. At least we’re not alone. I love you mama.”

*blinks back tears*

Hilarie Burton answered in kind, in an albeit less P. Sawyer-esque manner.

“You are just……..the prettiest inside and out,” she responds, “I love the wild women we’ve evolved into TOGETHER. Thank you for unconditional friendship and for being my style icon!!!! Seriously Soph. You’re magic. I love you. Xxxxxxxx.”

Bush’s photo slideshow even includes a selfie polaroid. There is nothing more 2004, or One Tree Hill, than that.
