Wonder Woman is continuing to kill the box office, but the iconic female warrior isn’t finished just yet. In fact, she isn’t alone in this new film — her creator will be joining her.
The newest film, which will be based on the male creator of Diana Prince and the two women who inspired her creation, is called Professor Marston and The Wonder Women. The film was played as a teaser before showing the DC blockbuster in certain cities during the summer.
Written and directed by Angela Robinson, the 1940s film revolves around Professor William Marston (Luke Evans), who created Wonder Woman, and the relationship he has between two women who were an inspiration to the comic.
Here’s how it all goes down: Marston had two muses, his wife Elizabeth (Rebecca Hall), and the couple’s shared lover Olive Byrne (Bella Heathcote). While the trio’s “unconventional” life together, and their mutual interest in feminism, bondage and pacifism all merged together into the creation of Wonder Woman — who represents a combination of Elizabeth and Olive.
This seems like an Oscar-winning film from what the trailer looks like. And the film was produced by Annapurna Pictures — an award-winning company that has won awards for Zero Dark Thirty, Her and 20th Century Women.
Professor Marston and the Wonder Women will be released in theaters October 27, 2017.
