Labor Day 2017: Does The Mail Run Today?

|

Labor day always comes on the heels of summer, right before fall hits. It’s always a holiday to celebrate the change in seasons, commemorate a summer well spent, and enjoy the last few moments of summer before our responsibilities hit us like a trainwreck. While you might be working on coordinating that family barbecue, you also might be expecting some mail. Whether it’s an important card or back to school shopping packages, see if mail is still running on Labor Day.

Does The United States Deliver Mail On Labor Day?

Since Labor Day is a federal holiday, no snail mail will be delivered today. You can enjoy your day off, free of any distractions. If you’re expecting any letters or packages, you’ll receive them on Tuesday. If you’re package is marked as UPS Critical, you’ll be able to receive it on Labor Day.

UPS offices will also be closed on Monday. If there’s anything you need to accomplish before Labor Day, you can visit your local post office on Saturday.

For FedEx, Express, Ground, Home Delivery, SmartPost, and Freight services will all be closed but Custom Critical will be available.

Some additional holidays on which mail is not delivered include:

  • Thanksgiving
  • Independence Day
  • President’s Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Columbus Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Veterans Day
