Ring In The New Year With These Rosh Hashanah Memes & Jokes

L’Shana Tovah!

Wednesday evening at sundown begins Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. For those of you who don’t celebrate this holy and festive holiday, you have probably wondered what the deal was when your Jewish friends were excused from classes during the first month of school.

Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown and lasts for two days. There isn’t a crazy countdown or bar hopping outings like the New Years in December. This one is more family-oriented and full of prayer, but definitely a celebration of the ending of one year complete with resolutions and making amends for the new year. We ask for forgiveness for all of our mistakes made over the past year. So it’s time to apologize for calling that one girl who sits in front of the classroom a bitch for pretending like she knows everything or that one rumor you didn’t mean to spread, but accidentally did or for mentally cursing out the guy who cut you off on the sidewalk. Remember that we all make mistakes, and we can be forgiven.

The holiday is still full of wine nonetheless. And so much food. Amazing Challah bread and apples dipped in honey for the hope of a sweet new year.

Despite some interesting traditions like consuming fish heads on this holiday and blowing into a ram’s horn, it’s a time to spend with the people you love and making a fresh start. So whether you’re Jewish or not, have a happy new year!

Here are some memes to ring in the new year!
