You might judge a restaurant by their service, but I take a simpler approach. I judge a restaurant by their bread. Think about it. It’s one of the most versatile food items they can serve and one of the first things a customer eats while waiting for the first course. If their bread sucks, their fancier food might be lacking.
Breadsticks have always taken a backseat during meals, but not today. The last Friday in October marks the celebration of National Breadstick Day. Do you like your bread soft and easy to chew, or do you prefer something crunchy and textured? Want them savory? Sprinkle some garlic powder and some cheese on that sucker. If you have a sweet tooth, you can even throw some cinnamon and sugar for a delightful treat.
Restaurants have also taken to Twitter to showcase their breadsticks for fans and regulars.

I’ll gladly admit that Sbarro’s garlic breadsticks got me through some rough times in college, considering that I ran out of meal swipes in the middle of the semester. Regardless of how you like your breadsticks, today is the day to go out and grab some.
