Today is probably one of the best national holidays on this planet. You can bake them or you can buy them from your local bakery. Either way, go get yourself some fudgy, gooey, chocolatey, brownies. It’s National Brownie Day! Yay. What is it about brownies that conjures up moments of comfort? Brownies are part of that food group that is hated and loved by many, that are classified as good and yet bad for you. But, who cares? Turns out people who are always giving brownies a bad name care. What do they say? They insist that brownies are nothing but flour, sugar, chocolate, butter and whatever else your heart desires to make your favorite brownies. Whoever said brownies didn’t have a bunch of ingredient combinations, was seriously disturbed. You can literally put anything in brownie batter. Oh my god, but that’s exactly what I love about brownies. In the brownies defense, they contain lots and lots of chocolate. I don’t love chocolate. Said no one ever. Chocolate lovers unite.
Ok, I can personally attest that brownies are good for the mental health benefits that can be attributed to eating a gooey, chocolatey, buttery piece of brownie. Let’s say you are at a get together with friends and you had a contest of who could make the best brownies. Is there anything wrong with trying all the different recipes? No! What would happen to you if you denied yourself a taste or two of different brownie recipes? I don’t know about you but that chocolate smell would have my taste buds on overload. Not being able to have something that has you drooling can have some negative consequences for your social interactions. You feel grumpy, you talk constantly about not being able to have what you desire and then people will avoid you. Hence, not allowing yourself to enjoy a brownie can cause one stress upon stress. It’s a fact. Or at least I say it is.
So, it is my theory that it is all about moderation. One piece can do no harm if it puts a smile on your face and allows you to interact happily with friends and family. National Brownie Day is heavenly and oh, so worth it!
