One hit wonders and peek-a-boo pop songs dominate the music industry in terms of sales. We often forget that music is art and entire albums are masterpieces. Those who provide us with mystical melodies and lyrical genius are artists that do not always receive enough credit for generating 10+ songs for you to enjoy in one sitting. Everyone has their own top 10 but here’s what we’re thinking in terms of popularity and most plays…

Best Albums of The Year

1. DAMN. by Kendrick Lamar

Speaks for itself. A lot of Kendrick with some “fire features.” There is a song for every mood complemented by some of the finest vocals of our time.

2. Culture by Migos

This title is also an accurate representation of the entire album. A series of party songs and chill music to drive around to, Migos summarized a culture of fashion, fame, and fortune.

3. More Life by Drake

One of the most highly anticipated albums of the year and as usual, Champagne Papi did not disappoint. With new sounds and selective features, we can Drake & Drive into 2018.

4. The Thrill Of It All by Sam Smith

Nothing like a little Sam Smith to get you to apologize to the one that got away or humming in someone’s ear as they’re pillow-talking to you late night. The man knows how to party but also how to have you crying in the diner, after the party.

5. 4:44 by Jay-Z

Nothing like a revenge album to slightly slay the entire world. Many of us were still recovering from the emotional impact of his wife’s album Lemonade, but Jay had us back in our bag in no time.

6. CTRL by SZA

Heartbreak, poetic justice, and words of womanhood, she carries us through the album seamlessly. It’s blatant and almost crude yet soothing.

7. American Teen by Khalid

He may be young and dumb but he’s probably not broke after this. A lovely compilation of teenage fever and independent jams, Khalid killed it.

8. Division by Ed Sheeran

Mr. Sheeran always provides a ray of hope in a world that often lacks old-fashioned romance. More diversity in the sounds than on previous albums, Division does not leave our feelings about it divided.

9. Reputation by Taylor Swift

The old Taylor might be dead but the new one seems to be getting along just fine. Back and better than ever, angst and pop music meet again.

10. Tell Me You Love Me by Demi Lovato

In the wake of her documentary’s revelations, Lovato is in search of love. The album explores the possibility of love with catchy tunes and sensual vibes.

HONORABLE MENTION: Rainbow by Kesha

A pot of gold at the end of the Rainbow, Kesha derails from her usual bubble-gum pop with sexual innuendo and brings us emotional appeals with words of encouragement.
