You can’t end the year without one last patriotic holiday. Pledge of Allegiance Day is celebrated annually on December 28 and was originally meant to honor the famous pledge of the United States. While the Pledge of Allegiance was published anonymously, it’s thought to have been written by Christian Socialist minister and author Francis Bellamy back in 1945.
The pledge has been rewritten multiple times over the years, but the original form read as: “I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” Its most recent revision happened on June 14, 1954.
Regardless if you had to recite it in school or not, everyone can enjoy some memes and jokes for this patriotic holiday.
