I am counting down the days before 2017 is finally over. Let’s be honest here. It was a rough year for all of us. Sure, we had our good times and strong leaps, but overall it was a a struggle. It really makes you wonder if 2018 will be any better than the last.
Well, here’s where I come in. I promise that 2018 will be better. Don’t believe me? I have you covered. I’ve compiled a list of some exciting things that are coming up, so keep your head held high. It can only get better from here.
The Winter Olympics
Prepare yourselves. The Winter Olympics are coming. This year it’ll take place on February 9 – February 25 in Pyeongchang County, South Korea. This will mark Korea’s second Olympic event, the first being the 1988 Summer Games in Seoul.
The Royal Wedding
This is probably one of the most highly anticipated weddings, and it’s not even taking place in the United States. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan on tying the knot on Saturday, May 19, 2018. The wedding is slated to take place in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
A Royal Baby
As if a wedding wasn’t enough, Kate Middleton revealed that she’s pregnant with her third child! The lovely Duchess of Cambridge and her husband Prince William are excited to welcome this new addition to their growing family. I’m sure little Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be even more excited for a new sibling to the royal lineup.
Highly Anticipated Movies
If there’s ever a year to splurge on movies, let it be 2018. We have a great lineup of movie releases in 2018, including Avengers: Infinity War, Incredibles 2, and Oceans 8.
Trump jokes aside, if you’ve been troubled with our small-handed president then now is the time to think about the Midterm Elections. Democrats only need 24 seats to flip the GOP-controlled House and only 2 seats to flip the Republican Senate.
Total Lunar Eclipse
If you enjoyed watching all the celestial phenomenons in 2017 then you’re in for a treat next month. We’ll be getting a total lunar eclipse on January 31, 2018. The best part? You don’t need special eye wear to bear witness to this awesome event.
Watching a meteor shower is on my bucket list, and 2018 might just be my chance to cross it off. We’re in for a number of meteor showers in 2018, with the first taking place on January 3. Cross your fingers that the weather is clear, but if not there are more scheduled throughout the year.
2018 World Cup
If you thought epic sporting events stopped at the Winter Olympics, think again. The 2018 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place in Russia from June 14 – July 15. Players from the winning teams will qualify for the 2021 FIFA Confederations Cup.
“It’s been 84 years…”
Okay, maybe our math was wrong, but tourists will finally be able to stumble upon the Titanic wreckage. Well, if you have the money for it. If you have $105,000 to spare, you can take a submarine to check out the Titanic’s final resting place.
Space X Launch
If diving into the ocean blue isn’t your thing, how about traveling to space? SpaceX revealed that they plan on making space tourism a reality. Two private space tourists have already been selected to be the first to fly to and from the moon in 2018. If all goes well, space travel might be within reach in a couple years.
