Stranger Things is one of the most binge-worthy TV shows ever. Season three or Stranger Things 3 is so far away that fans are desperate for any hint, clue or spoiler to what will happen to the Eleven and the rest of the Hawkins crew next.
The show’s creators and producers have given some details about the third season away and we’ve compiled them all into one convenient post. Stranger Things 2 ended with the kids at the Snow Ball dance, Eleven showed up and kissed Mike and Max and Lucas had a moment too. But while the kids finally relished in the peace and quiet the Shadow Monster still lurked in the Upside Down. What does that mean for Hawkins? Read the spoilers and find out.
Is Stranger Things 3 filming?
Right now, no, the third season isn’t being shot. But according to executive producer Shawn Levy told Glamour that he and the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers have finished writing the third season. “We now know what is going to happen in season three to every character.”
How long will season 3 be?
Stranger Things 3 will be eight or nine episodes. The length of the season will be “dictated by the amount of story that excites us,” Levy told Glamour.
When will Stranger Things 3 be on Netflix?
We don’t have a concrete date, but the Stranger Things team is aiming for the end of 2018 or early 2019. The first season came out in early fall in 2016 and the second season came out on Halloween 2017, an iconic release date.
Is Will Byers going to keep suffering?
Levy confirmed to Glamour that Will will finally be able to chill out. “We’re going to give Will a break,” Levy said. “We’re not going to put Will through hell for a third season in a row. He’ll be dealing with stuff, but he won’t be at rock bottom the way we forced the amazing Noah Schnapp to play.”
Will the Shadow Monster return?
The Shadow Monster, or the Mind Flayer, didn’t die in Stranger Things 2 (I’m assuming you watched the second season if you’re reading season three spoilers) but that doesn’t mean that it will be the main evil creature. Levy hinted that there will be new forces of evil that the kids of Hawkins will have to defeat.
But the Duffer brothers, Ross and Matt told The Hollywood Reporter that the monster is still very much alive and aware of the kids especially Eleven. Dual monsters would be cool and was definitely hinted at in Stranger Things 2 with the Shadow Monster and the mini Demogorgon.
Will Stranger Things 3 pick up right after Stranger Things 2?
The Duffer brothers told The Hollywood Reporter that the third season will have a time jump meaning it won’t pick up right where season two ended. The reason for the time jump is because the actors are growing up so it wouldn’t be believable.
“They’re going to be almost a year older by the time we start shooting season three,” Matt said. “It provides certain challenges. You can’t start right after season two ended. It forces you to do a time jump.”
