Gisele Caroline Bundchen was born on July 20, 1980, to Vania Nonnenmacher, a bank clerk pensioner and Valdir Bundchen, a college professor and writer. Bundchen has five sisters- Raquel, Graziela, Gabriela, fraternal twin Patricia and Rafaela. Along with speaking Portuguese, Bundchen also speaks English, Spanish, Italian and some French.

In 1993, at just 13-years-old, Bundchen and her sisters Patricia and Gabriela enrolled in a modeling course.
