This Girl Made A 20-Foot Billboard To Find A Cute Stranger She Saw On The Subway

What have you done to get your crush’s attention? Slide into their DMs? Email every Claudia at your school to find the right one like this college student? Ask Twitter to help you find the stranger you kissed on top of the Eiffel Tower like this girl? In a move that makes us all look like rookies, Devin Custalow had a 20-foot mural made on the streets of Brooklyn, New York in search of a mystery man she felt she had a connection with.

We’ve all had moments in our daily lives where we see a cute guy or girl and feel that pang of sadness when we know we’re never going to see them again. Unless, of course, you don’t want that scenario to happen and actively do something about it. That’s exactly what happened to Devin Custalow.

The 25-year-old was on the subway in NYC in October when she caught the eye of a cute stranger and felt an instinctual connection. She didn’t know anything else about him except he was attractive, has a mole on the right cheek and was wearing yellow shoes.

According to CBS, Devin said,”I was on the way home from Coney Island with my roommate and we noticed this cute guy catching our attention on the subway and throughout the trip he kept getting closer and closer.” She continued, “We kept making eye contact like the whole time.”

They got off and were heading towards the same connecting train, but Devin didn’t make it in in time. Though she could’ve just left it at that and forgotten about him, she decided to make a post on Craigslist. The MGM hotel soon contacted her to help find the mystery man. In the video, Devin discusses the encounter and her roommate says, “When we didn’t get on the train and he looked back at you, he looked SO disappointed.”

The hotel painted a 20-foot billboard in Williamsburg and it says, “Yellow shoes guy on the G train: I was the brunette in the green pants. You were in yellow shoes, glancing at me and pretended not to listen to me and my roommate discuss how I wanted to talk to you. I even missed my stop in hopes that you would say something, but you never did. I know you probably won’t see this but if you do, say his this time.”

In smaller letters, the mural says, “If you’re out there, meet here on Valentine’s Day 2/14 at 1:00pm.”

If you’re looking for a happy ending, you’re out of luck. Yellow Shoes guy never showed up. CBS reports that even her family and friends were nearby with flowers along with a film crew in hopes of capturing the encounter.

Whoever you are, wherever you are, we hope you had a good excuse.
