The Academy Awards, the most prestigious film award, is almost here. The award show is ringing in its 90th show and it will no doubt be iconic. Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the show again, only the second person to host two years in a row. The first person to ever host two consecutive years was Billy Crystal.

The Shape of Water was nominated for the most categories with 13 nominations. Queen Meryl Streep scores her 21 Oscar nomination for The Post, which makes her the most nominated actor ever.
Greta Gerwig also becomes the fifth woman to ever be nominated for best director for her movie Lady Bird. Jordan Peele is the first African American to be nominated for three Oscars in one year. He was nominated for Best Picture, Director and Original Screenplay for Get Out. Peele is also only the fifth African-American to be nominated for Best Director and he could be the first to ever win.
Mary J. Blige made history becoming the first person to ever be nominated for an acting category and Best Original Song in the same year. She was nominated for her work in Mudbound. Cinematographer Rachel Morrison has become the first woman ever to be nominated for Best Cinematography for her work in Mudbound. It’s taken the Academy 90 award shows to finally nominate a woman, but they did it.
See who won and took home the Academy Awards.
