Zac Efron is stepping out of his comfort zone and leaving the musicals to act in a more serious and dark role. Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will be a movie where Efron stars as serial killer Ted Bundy, who in 1970s was known for luring in young women and unfortunately murdering many of them at the time. Bundy was able to deceive these groups of women and everyone around him with his good looks and charm so Efron will have no trouble playing that part of this role as he is also known for his handsome looks.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Efron shared his difficulties in preparing to play such a dark role, such as method acting. “I didn’t go full method,” he said. “I didn’t have to do any weird stuff to anybody to get into character.” Letting fans know the role hasn’t played with his mindset, and he didn’t have to go and play serial killer to get into the part. The Greatest Showman actor also shared that he had to cleanse himself at the end of filming to get rid of the bad vibe. “I went and had some friends sage me. You know, do a little spiritual cleansing.” Who could blame him?
The 30-year-old actor gave a little bit of a sneak peek into what precisely the film will be focusing on, and what they’re trying to get viewers to take away from the movie after they watch it. “It doesn’t really glorify Ted Bundy,” Efron said. “He wasn’t a person to be glorified. It simply tells a story and sort of how the world was able to be charmed over by this guy who was notoriously evil and the vexing position that so many people were put in, the world was put in. It was fun to go and experiment in that realm of reality.”
The movie is currently in post-production so even though there isn’t exactly a release date we will find out soon!
