10 Reasons Your Next Vacation Needs To Be A Staycation

Spring break is officially upon us, and if you’re like some of us choosing to make this year’s vacation a staycation, you’re in luck. While some of your friends will be spending their first and last few days of break jet lagged and run down from traveling to and from their vacation destinations, you will not be. You’ll be refreshed and rejuvenated as opposed to dehydrated and so tired you’re delirious.

If you’re choosing to make your break a staycation that’s one of the many benefits of staying at home all break long. In fact, take a look at these 10 reasons why you’ll want to make your next vacation a staycation.

1. You get to try out new places.

By staying local, you get the opportunity to visit new places you may have noticed in passing but never got the opportunity to visit or experience before. A lot of times because we are so busy with our day to day lives we miss out on some pretty dope local attractions right under our noses and within our zip codes. Visiting that local museum or heavy tourist spot you avoid during the semester is a great way to spend your days if you’re looking to get out and experience something new and different.

2. You don’t have to deal with the anxiety and stress of traveling.

Sure you’re en route to the beautiful sandy beaches and warm weather but before you can get there you have to go through the hellish experience of traveling, which is far from a good time. Some of the great benefits of a staycation is not having to deal with the hassle of traveling for extended periods of time that ultimately cut into your vacation time.

3. You get to save some money.

Of course, the most obvious benefit of choosing to have a staycation as your vacation is the tons of money you’ll save and who doesn’t love that?

4. Enjoying all of your favorite local spots.

The great part about a staycation is that you get to visit all your local favorite spots and really relax and enjoy them. During the semester we’re so consumed with homework, studying, tests, projects, work and so many other things, we don’t get that much to go to our favorite local spots and just relax. During your staycation, you get plenty of time to go to all your local favorite places and just relish in being there.

5. You don’t have to deal with packing.

We don’t know anyone who looks forward to packing (or unpacking), and the great thing about a staycation is that you don’t have to deal with having to figure out how to pack a week’s worth of clothes, shoes and accessories into one suitcase OR the even bigger hassle-having to unpack when you get back from your trip.

6. Your pet can come along.

During a staycation, you get to spend more time with your pet than you would if you were to leave your fur baby behind and sometimes depending on where you’re headed you can bring your pet along.

7. You don’t have to waste your time in an airport.

Not only are you spending your precious time off in an overcrowded and germ-filled airport, but you run the risk of more time being wasted (and a potentially disastrous vacay) if your flight gets delayed due to weather or if your luggage gets lost. When you stay local, you avoid the airport scene altogether.

8. You don’t have to worry about the weather.

Sometimes you can have all your I’s dotted, and all your T’s crossed and your vacay can still turn into a downer due to the weather. Because the weather is just one thing, we will never have control over, planning a staycation is great because you can quickly alter your plans and choose to do something else. If the weather’s looking a little crappy, you can switch out your outdoor activities and get into something indoors and still enjoy yourself.

9. You avoid having to recuperate from your vacay.

Jet lag after going a week straight of no sleep and non-stop partying is NO JOKE, but if you choose to stay local, you get to recuperate from the night (or nights) before in the comfort of your own bed and at your own pace. A staycation lessons your chance of having only a few hours to recuperate from your vacay, and you don’t have to deal with any jet lag. Score!

10. You don’t have to plan ahead.

When you choose to stay local for your vacation, you’re less restricted as far as time and don’t have to worry too much about sticking to a strict schedule, which, if you think about it, isn’t that the point of a vacay anyways?
