Sometimes, it can be easier to love others than to love yourself. As J-Lo once said “You’ve got to love yourself first. You’ve got to be okay on your own before you can be with someone else.” I couldn’t agree more.

We all get our down days, and sometimes, only we can make ourselves feel better. Life is all about happiness and self-love (as over-rated as that sounds). Right now, life might not be going to “plan” and is throwing all sorts of lemons at you.

1. Practice gratitude

People who focus on what they believe to be a blessing in life, tend to be healthier and happier. 

Practicing gratitude daily will make you appreciate the things you have in life, rather than focusing on the things that you don’t. Try listing down the things you are grateful for first thing in the morning, and when negative emotions try to swamp you, come back to your list.


2.  Forgive yourself

You cannot change the past. However, you do have some control over what happens in your future. Stop thinking about what you ‘could’ve’ or ‘should’ve’ done. You did the best you could at the time with the understanding, awareness, and knowledge that you had.
