Do: Wait until after the ceremony has occurred to send graduation announcements, to avoid any potential invitation mix-ups.

3. Dress Code

Do: Dress appropriately. You will be removing your graduation gown at some point during the celebration, so avoid anything that’s too casual. It’s a good idea to avoid wearing anything that’s too warm since the ceremony is usually a long affair and graduation robes can be made from the heavy material.

Don’t: Wear flip-flops, shorts, t-shirts, or anything else that isn’t graduation worthy.

4. Etiquette

Do: Cheer on your friends when their name is called to receive their diploma, and congratulate them on their accomplishments.

Don’t: Be disrespectful to others by extending your cheering throughout the ceremony so the next graduate’s name can be heard.
