Miss USA 2018 Winner: Meet Sarah Summers

The Miss USA competition took place Monday, May 21st with Sarah Rose Summers, Miss Nebraska USA taking home the crown. This is the first time Nebraska has won the coveted title. Nebraska is one of the least successful states at the Miss USA pageant by placing within the top 15 only 10 times previously but has never taken home the crown until this year.

Who is Miss USA?

Sarah Summers was born in Omaha City, Nebraska in 1994 to Michael and Dee Summers. Sarah is a graduate of Texas Christian University with not one, but two degrees. After graduating from TCU in May 2017, Sarah went on to complete her most recent career accomplishment of becoming a Certified Child Life Specialist during her clinical rotations. Sarah has a lifelong goal to advocate for children in need. When Sarah is not busy in her scrubs, she is out teaching Pilates as a certified instructor. Whether she is working with children in a hospital setting or working with women and men in a pilates studio, Sarah is always hard at work helping better peoples’ physical and mental health.

Her Pageant Career

Sarah is no stranger to the pageant world, she has been competing in pageants for over thirteen years. Before winning the title of Miss Nebraska USA 2018, she was the former Miss Nebraska Teen USA titleholder in 2012. Sarah went on to compete for Miss Nebraska USA in 2016 where she placed 2nd runner-up, her persistence and perseverance lead her to compete for the title the following year and win the crown.  Being a part of the Miss USA organization has helped Sarah win three of the most coveted titles attainable in the organization, leaving the Miss Universe title at her fingertips.

From double majoring in college to working as a Certified Child Life Specialist, Sarah has already accomplished many wonderful things in her twenty-three years. Aside from her current career path, Sarah also studied child development while attending TCU and has worked for the Dallas Cowboy’s Promotion Team. This year Sarah decided to work alongside with The National Eating Disorder Association, a non-profit organization that works on promoting education about body-image and eating disorders by providing treatment and help to those in need. After being an aid for friends with anorexia and orthorexia, Sarah has devoted her life to help those with body-image issues and make them happier in the skin they’re in.

What is next for the newly crowned Miss USA? She will go through months of intense preparation for the Miss Universe pageant that will air sometime later this year or early next year.
