The energized and fascinating empire that is the Kpop industry has left a mark on fervent admirers of music across the world. BTS, one of the more internationally acclaimed Kpop groups, is taking over the world in stride, and the United States is no exception. Their expansion into the American music industry is emphasized by their sensational performances at the American Music Awards, as well as the Billboard Music Awards. The group that gained popularity for their song “DNA” has recently released a new album Love Yourself, and is revolutionizing a hip-hop and pop sound, while creating an army of fans through their diligent use of social media. BTS is fighting its way to the top music charts in America. However, amongst the multitude of their rapid successes, how much is BTS actually worth?
Bangtan Boys Net Worth as of 2018: $45 Million
BTS, also known as “Bangtan Boys”, is an incredible seven-member boy group that began their impactful journey in South Korea, before being molded into the iconic band that they are now. Before BTS was formed, each individual member entered into South Korea’s auditions for potential music groups. These competitive auditions recruit talented artists, who then enter into years of training until they are hopefully revealed to the world. In 2011 before becoming BTS, the single members of the group were all recruited under the company Big Hit Entertainment, where they would then train and produce music until their first debut album 2 Cool 4 Skool in 2013.
The Korean music industry works similar to that of an assembly line. From the years 2011-2013, the members of BTS were not yet introduced as a group, but rather as individuals working to hopefully be debuted as Kpop stars in the future. Each member of BTS went through intense training classes such as singing, and dancing, in order to meet Big Hit Entertainment’s expectations of talent. The training classes are meant to improve areas that potential group members may be lacking in. When members exceed within their categories of training, they are brought together with other competitive members and are formed into groups. After the training period, the members of BTS were brought together under the group name Bangtan Boys. Their first album was released in 2013, finally revealing them to the world. When Kpop groups are formed, the outside world is given teasers and sneak peeks into the groups upcoming music, in order to stimulate attention to the group before they are fully exposed to the world. When BTS were within their training period, social media helped to promote their first album 2 Cool 4 Skool, released in 2013.
After their album debuted in 2013, BTS began to garner an abundance of fans, leading to the formation of their fandom known as “Army.” “Army” has grown across several nations including the United States. BTS engages with music genres such as Pop, Hip Hop and R&B, and have cohesively intertwined these genres within their several albums. Between the years 2013-2016 the group has made albums in not only Korean but Japanese as well. Their 1st full-length album Dark and Wild was released in 2014, followed by their 2nd full-length album Wings which debuted in 2016. Between the production of their full-length albums, BTS have produced what are known as “mini-albums” and “special albums” such as Skool Luv Affair, a mini album that was released in 2014 and Young Forever, a special album released in 2016. The seven-member band has not only been nominated for several awards such as the Korean New Artist of the Year award in 2014, but they have also achieved three world tours since then.
The net worth of BTS is estimated to rise, as their fame increases in not only South Korea but the United States and several other nations across the world. After BTS performed for the American Music Awards in 2017, their United States presence grew to unforeseen bounds. In 2018 BTS won the Billboard Award for Top Social Artist, increasing the hype around their expansion into the United States music industry. The boy group remains extremely active on social media, hence their Billboard award, and their overflowing fandom.
The ambitious seven members of BTS each have their own unique roles as well as personalities within the group and have each garnered their own followings among the BTS Army.
