Michelle Obama just posted the most adorable photo of her and her husband, former President Barack Obama on Instagram from their wedding day on October 3, 1992. They are once again making our hearts sing for joy for their beautiful relationship. This throwback photo is making headlines after it was released the other day that they will have a partnership with Netflix.
In the post, Michelle reminisced how her husband woke up with a nasty head cold the morning of their wedding. She says that you cannot tell from the adorable photo–which is true. Michelle says that by the time Barack got to the altar, the illness went away. What a miracle! Something that could have ruined their wedding day had no effect and makes for an iconic story. Let’s take a look at their beautiful relationship from when they started dating and up until this current point.
Pre-Wedding: June 1989-1991
The Obamas met in June 1989, when Mr. Obama was employed as a summer associate at the Chicago law firm of Sidley & Austin. They began dating later in the summer and Michelle was swept off her feet by his charming demeanor. They moved quickly–they engaged in 1991. Barack proposed at Gordon’s restaurant in Chicago celebrating their finish of the bar exam, marking a brand new chapter to their lives.
The Wedding: October 3, 1992
The big wedding day! The couple married on October 3, 1992, at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. The day was one full of love, a lively reception was held at the South Shore Cultural Center. And since Michelle is a Stevie Wonder fan, their first dance as husband and wife was to “You and I” by the singer. After the wedding, they took off for a California-coast honeymoon. How romantic!
The Obamas fostered a beautiful life together in Chicago.
In 1998, the couple had their first daughter–Malia Ann Obama in 1998 and then their second daughter, Natasha Obama in 2001. Obama was an Illinois State Senator from 1997-2004. And then he ran for U.S. Senate in 2004 and won. He served as the U.S. Senator from Illinois until 2008, when he became President and the rest is history!
The Presidency: 2007-2016
During Barack’s time in the White House, the couple fostered a loving relationship together. At the Inauguration dinners in 2009 and 2013 in particular, they have their dance together, and they look like they cannot be more in love and happy.
Their public appearances together throughout the time of Obama’s presidency have been entertaining. They mostly laid low, but their loving body language throughout their appearances together conveys their true love for each other.
Since leaving the White House, the Obamas are staying in Washington D.C. at least until their daughter Sasha graduates from high school.
As previously mentioned, it was revealed on May 21, 2018, that the couple entered into a multi-year agreement with Netflix to produce films and series from a wide array of types including scripted series, unscripted series, documentaries, etc. We cannot wait to see the content that they create together, and we are sure that it will be great.
We hope that they continue to have a happy and fulfilling relationship. We know how much the Obamas have to offer to the world and know that they won’t disappoint! We cannot wait to see what they will accomplish next!
