If you’re heading on a trip this Memorial Day weekend, you’re going to need some snacks for the road, or else everyone is going to get hangry after a couple of hours. (That’s hungry + angry, and believe me, I’ve been there.) You’re going to face the dilemma of whether to pack snacks that are yummy or snacks that are healthy. It’s a difficult question to face because let’s be real: few things are more satisfying than devouring an entire Hershey’s chocolate bar. Especially the kind with the almonds in them. I understand that you may not want to be super healthy. Believe me, I do. Growing up, I was that kid who cringed when people’s parents would serve fruit for dessert. However, I think I’ve grown enough to acknowledge that there are tasty snacks out there that aren’t just straight-up sugar.
Here are a couple of options that are pretty healthy in the grand scheme of things, but still delicious enough that you’ll actively enjoy eating them instead of merely tolerating them.
If you like to munch on something crunchy, but you’re looking for a slightly healthier alternative to the potato chip, you may enjoy Bare chips. There are fruit chips made from apples, bananas, and coconuts, as well as veggie chips made from beets, carrots, and sweet potatoes. Within each category are more specific options and you can buy just one type or invest in a variety pack to mix things up.

Nourish Snacks Granola Bites
Nutritionist Joy Bauer’s goal in running Nourish Snacks is to create food that is both tasty and healthy, and these fit the bill. The bite-sized bits are a fun take on the traditional snack and come in several different flavors, including chocolate banana, coconut vanilla, chocolate peanut butter, blueberry apple and double chocolate. Sabra Snackers Hummus with Pretzels
Sabra packages their mini hummus containers and pretzel crisps together in such a way that they are super easy to travel with. When you’re ready for snack time, just pull the plastic, and you’ll have a little bowl of pretzels and a small bowl of hummus.
