Happy birthday to Kanye West, a man who needs no introduction. West turns 41 today and is celebrating not only his birthday but also two new albums. The star began his career as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records before becoming the rapper we all know today. He released his debut album The College Dropout in 2004 and with his newfound success, established GOOD Music, his own record label.
Following The College Dropout, West released Late Registration in 2005, Graduation in 2007, and 808s & Heartbreak in 2008. His next two albums My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010) and Yeezus (2013) are generally considered by critics and fans alike to be his best works. He also notably partnered with Jay-Z for the 2011 album Watch the Throne. In 2016 West released The Life of Pablo. His 2018 albums include Love Everyone and Kids See Ghost, the latter being a collaboration between West and Kid Cudi.
West is universally regarded as one of the most influential artists of all time, with a total of 21 Grammy awards under his belt. Additionally, he has sold more than 100 million digital downloads and 21 million albums. Rolling Stone included three of his albums in their 2012 “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” list and Time ranked him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in both 2005 and 2015.
Aside from his music career, West is well-known for his ventures into the fashion world. In 2011 and 2012 West premiered two fashion lines at Paris Fashion Week. In 2015, West began his collaboration with Adidas on Yeezy, his line of clothes and sneakers. This partnership has continued into 2018, with new drops every year or so. In 2017, West launched a line of children’s clothing called Kid’s Supply along with his wife Kim Kardashian.
In addition to his businesses, West has garnered attention over the years for his controversial statements. He infamously went off script during a 2005 benefit concert for Hurricane Katrina, asserting that then-President George Bush did “not care about black people.” West also caused a major uproar by interrupting Taylor Swift during her 2009 VMAs acceptance speech for Best Female Video. West ran on stage, asserting that Beyoncé deserved the award over Swift.
He made the news recently for his presumed support of President Donald Trump on his Twitter. Here are some of his best and most controversial tweets.
Look at your phone as tool not an obligation. Would you walk around with a hammer in your pocket? You would pick up a hammer when you needed it you would never be addicted or obligated to it. Use your phone like a hammer only pick it up when you need it.

try telling people you love them it actually feels weird at first. We're really good at hating each other. We have to get good at loving each other.

my wife just called me and she wanted me to make this clear to everyone. I don't agree with everything Trump does. I don't agree 100% with anyone but myself.

You don't have to agree with trump but the mob can't make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don't agree with everything anyone does. That's what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.
