We all live in a world where our phones basically control everything, including our love lives. How many people can you actually think of haven’t been on tinder or an online dating app at least once? Probably not too many. It may be crazy to think that there was actually a point in time where people had to leave their homes to go out and find someone. What a crazy thought, right? Not being able to chill on your couch in sweats and swipe left and right.

Clearly meeting potential partners in a daily scenario doesn’t sound realistic, but it is! There are so many possible places to meet the love of your life that you haven’t even thought about yet. Or maybe it’s just too scary to think about taking a risk and meeting someone not through a social app or social media. It may be time to jump out of your comfort zone and try meeting someone in these potential places. I promise it’ll be worth the risk!

Taking Public Transportation

I’m sure all of you commuters will love this one. The subway is an oyster of attractive people who may be your ideal match. I’m definitely a victim of searching the train for people who catch my eye, and I bet I’m not the only one. Next time you see a cutie reading a book you love, consider striking up a conversation with them about it. Making eyes at the hottie across from you the whole ride? Consider handing them a piece of paper with your number before you get off the train. Sure, it’s a risk but it’s also you being brave and taking initiative.

Become A Regular Somewhere

You know that cute little cafe you always pass by your house? Well, it’s time to make that place your second home. There’s something about being a fixture in someplace you’re comfortable (that isn’t your home) that gives you the confidence to talk to people. Find a place and make it yours. You’ll eventually become so familiar with it, you’ll be able to give anyone that walks in a recommendation on what to get. So find your favorite cafe, bar, bookstore, restaurant, or place to listen to live music and see how it feels to become a regular.

Go To Work Happy Hour

Maybe you’re not one to mix business and pleasure, and that’s completely understandable. Even if you know, for a fact, that you will never date any of your coworkers you never know who they might bring from outside the office to tag along. They might have a cute buddy that so happens to be perfect for you. So if a coworker invites you to go someplace for Happy Hour, just this once try to not pass them up on the invitation.

Blind Dates

Who knows you better than your best friends? I’m sure they know everything you’re looking for in a partner so why not trust their judgment and agree to let them set you up. The best part is, if things don’t work out you never have to see them again, but hey at least you gave it a chance. Or best case scenario, they take you to your favorite restaurant and you both end up talking so much you end up being there for hours. Don’t jump to conclusions, take risks and try out new things.

Take A Class

I’m sure there’s a hobby you’re just dying to try out. Well now here’s your chance! Who knows who you’ll meet at that painting class or cooking class. And what a great place to meet someone who clearly shares the same interests as you. Talk about a win, win. You get to try something you’ve always wanted to and meet a potential bae to join you along for the ride.

Don’t just sit back and let your phones do all the talking. Get yourself out there and start taking risks. you never know who’s just around the corner.
