How To Not Let The Summer Heat Affect Your Mood

Summer is a girls favorite season. The sun is shining, your weekends are jam-packed with road trips to the shore, spending time outdoors, and maybe even splurging out on that tropical vacay of your dreams. There’s no denying everyone has fun in the sun, but what about when the sun is too hot for us to handle? Sure I love a nice 85-degree day outside, but once that temperature rises to 100 I’m definitely not a happy camper.

Just like every other girl I love summer sunshine and spending entire days in my favorite bikini sitting poolside, but as soon as temperatures run too high, that happy-go-lucky smile is washed away by beads of sweat, and I’m cranking up the AC. Within seconds that big smile is gone because of all the sweat dripping down my face. Now, instead of letting the summer heat ruin your sunny day here are a few tricks to stay chill when the sun gets too hot to handle.

Stay Hydrated

Obviously, this one seems like a no-brainer. It’s easy to become dehydrated in the heat. Dehydration can lead to a number of problems from migraines to loss of sleep. It’s no surprise these problems can put a real damper on your parade so keep a bottle of water on you at all times. By drinking throughout the day you’ll be able to keep your body temperature low so you’ll feel cooler in the sun.

Eat Clean And Exercise

Adding exercise to your daily routine is scientifically proven to put you in a better mood. Maybe going for a run outside doesn’t seem ideal considering the heat, but doing some cardio in a pool does! Along with adding some exercise into your day, try adding some refreshing foods into your diet as well. Instead of snacking on some chips, try switching them out for a fruit salad. Let’s not forget ice cream is the perfect summer treat. It’ll cool you off and keep your mind off the growing temperature It’s amazing what a little attention to the body can do for your brain.

Pick The Right Clothes

Obviously wearing black is every girl’s go-to color, but in the summer heat, it may not be the best option. If you’re wearing a black shirt and black pants, you’re definitely going to attract that sun. Wearing lighter colors can help you stay cool. Also, it’s summer when-else are you going to get a chance to pop a little yellow into your closet. It also helps to wear looser clothes with lighter fabric, so steer clear of anything that’s too tight.

Even if it’s hot, summer is still one of the most fun seasons of the year! It isn’t meant to be stressful, so if you can’t beat the heat, the best thing you can do for your mood is to get out of it. Don’t forget to relax and spend your time doing things that make you happy.
