Swimsuit model and new mommy Mara Martin just made headlines and went viral. The 32-year-old received copious amounts of praise after she walked the runway in a two-piece bikini while breastfeeding her 5-month-old daughter.
Donning a two-piece gold bikini, wet hair and a big grin, former volleyball player strutted down Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s runway like all the other models. The only difference was that Martin just so happened to be in the middle of breastfeeding her daughter at the time.
Martin who was one of 16 finalists taking part in Sports Illustrated’s Miami Swim Week fashion show on Sunday night showed off her multi-tasking skills as she walked the runway with ease to show off her curves just months after giving birth to her daughter.
Martin’s walk quickly made headlines and she took to her Instagram, shortly afterward, to thank Sports Illustrated for the opportunity and talked about her journey as a model and now a mother.
“THANK YOU for letting all 16 of us be our true selves, strong beautiful women!!! Because of you, my daughter is going to grow up in a better world, where she will always feel this way!!!!!!” she wrote.

Martin told fans that walking in the show on Sunday night was a “dream come true” and that she was disbelief after waking up to headlines for doing something she does every day.
“I’m so grateful to be able to share this message and hopefully normalize breastfeeding and also show others that women CAN DO IT ALL!” Martin wrote.
Martin also took some time to recognize and speak out about some of her own “sheroes” who are making headlines around the world that deserve more attention: “One woman is going to boot camp in two weeks to serve our country, one woman had a mastectomy (@allynrose), and another is a cancer survivor, 2x Paralympic gold medalist, as well as a mother herself (@bren_hucks you rock).”
