Models Slam Kendall Jenner For Her Recent Comments About Modeling

Kendall Jenner is one of many models that is gracing Love magazines 10th Anniversary Issue.

Jenner is in hot water for her Love interview with Murray Healy. Recently the publication posted a photo and quote from the magazine on their Instagram. In the quote, Jenner talks about how she’s “super selective” of which shows she walks in. Her quote in full is below.

“Since the beginning we’ve been super selective about what show I would do. I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the f**k those girls do. More power to ’em. But I had a million jobs, not only catwalks but everything else. The whole combination was very overwhelming and I started to freak out a little bit and needed to take a step back.”

She went on to say that she “was on the verge of a mental breakdown” because of how busy she was.

Jenner’s sole income isn’t from modeling, she comes from a wealthy family and makes money from her family’s show Keeping Up With The Kardashians. However, for models who don’t have a financial safety net, they need to take multiple jobs a season.

Now models are coming for Jenner for her judgment about how many jobs and shows they do. Models are screenshotting the Love Instagram post and calling out Jenner’s entitlement.

Models Ratner, Faretta, Irina Duranovic, Daria Strokous, Marine Deleeuw, Jac Jagaciak, Ginta Lapina, Theodora Quinlivan and Luma Grothe all posted on their Instagram story calling Jenner.

“Never been so indirectly and publicly offended in my whole entire life god damn!!!!!!!!!! To be called a supermodel..how easy it comes to you,” Duranovic posted. She then shared a photo of her and other models smiling saying it was one of her 30+ seasons and she was all smiles.

“Honestly, @kendalljenner just keeping your f**kig mouth shut,” Ratner posted.

“Seriously?!?!?!? Being lazy is not being selective. We work! hard and giving 100% from us, but you can’t say that for yourself….and after all you dare to talk like this?!” Faretta wrote.

“‘…whatever the f**k those girls do’ is do their very best to make their way up AND try to make some money so that they can provide for themselves and their families. Oh, and it’s 70 shows a season by the way And we all are f**king proud of every single one of the girls that did it,” Strokous posted.

Strokous then shared photos of supermodels who have walked in thousands of shows and broke down how much work goes into runway modeling.

Grothe posted multiple stories on her Instagram about Jenner’s comments. She wrote that she respects Jenner for being open about her struggle with anxiety and is “not minimizing” it. With that said she goes in on how most models work hard to get in any show and that they do 30 plus shows because they don’t have a choice, they need the exposure and money.

Quinlivan posted a lengthy statement about Jenner’s statement. It reads in full:

“As models we need to uplift each other. We all work extremely hard to pursue our dream even the ‘girls who walk 30 shows a season or whatever the f**k those girls do”. If you are lucky as a model you might make enough to not be in debt to your agency; maybe even move out of the model apartment… if you’re lucky. I’m privileged, I’m white, I’m a passable trans woman, my family doesn’t rely on my paycheck to survive. Unfortunately this isn’t the case for the vast majority of models ho have to leave everything behind including their families in pursuit of a better life. Models don’t just come from Calabasas… they come from Somalia, The Siberian tundra, a rural Village in China, A trailer park in Tennessee. Making disparaging comments about your peers doesn’t lead to growth or unity which out regulation-less industry desperately needs…”

“‘Whatever the f**k those girls do…?’ We all are hard working and worked hard to be where we are. Nothing was given to us,” Lapina wrote hinting at Jenner using her name to get ahead.

If it wasn’t clear enough she posted another video of her on the set of a shoot and wrote, “I gotta work, #imnotkardashian.”

Jagaciak reposted Lapina’s first post about Jenner and then added her own two cents on the matter. “Reminder to: Work hard. Be proud. Stay grateful.”

Being backstage at the next fashion week is going to be awkward for Jenner.

Update

Kendall Jenner has since apologized for her quote and says her quote was taken out of context.

A representative for Jenner told Buzzfeed that her quote was taken out of context.

“Mid-thought she realized the number of shows some models walk a season is closer to 80. The point was that it’s their path and “the more power to them.” She admires their hard work and dedication. It’s an accomplishment.”

Jenner also tweeted about the quote.
