It’s hard to believe that Beyonce wasn’t at one point the biggest singer of our time. It all seems so easy to glaze over her hustle and say she was part of Destiny’s Child, went solo and the self-titled album and Lemonade dropped and her status was solidified.

At 37-years-old Beyonce’s singing career started before she even turned 10. She attended musical and performing arts schools growing up and started auditioning for girls groups when she was 8.

At 8 she joined Girl’s Tyme with childhood friend Kelly Rowland and LaTavia Roberson and three other girls. The group didn’t win Star Search, which is audio Beyonce sampled in her “***Flawless” music video. After the failed Star Search stint the group was cut to four and then changed to Destiny’s Child.

Then Destiny’s Child hustled and glowed up while also changing to a group of three with Michelle Williams. Then Beyonce went solo and evolved into the boss lady we know her to be today. Along the way, she married Jay-Z, had three kids, broke chart records and became the first African-American woman to headline Coachella.

Along the way, Beyonce dropped fire music videos. In no particular order, here are her top 10 music videos.

“Hold Up”

Lemonade was an iconic visual album, but nothing made fans scream “YAS!” quite like “Hold On.” It was the first song on the album that addressed Jay-Z’s cheating. Not only is the song good, but the yellow dress she wore in the video became iconic. Who knew someone could be so happy while smashing a windshield in with a bat.

“Single Ladies”

The dance! The outfit! The icon jumped out! What can be said about the “Single Ladies” music video that hasn’t already been said? It’s a moment in pop culture.

“Formation”

“Formation” is the lead single off of Lemonade and the visuals from the music video became iconic with Beyonce’s image. Most notably Beyonce with braids, a wide-brimmed black hat and a neck full of jewelry and her leaning out the car window have been recreated multiple times over.  The song and music video came out the same day she performed it at the Super Bowl. That same day she announced her tour. “Formation” was the most Googled song of 2016.

“Partition”

The music video for “Partition” doesn’t disappoint. Off of Beyonce’s self-titled album, this music video puts Beyonce’s talent to craft a visual narrative on a pedestal. Literally, Beyonce does a burlesque dance while on a pedestal.

“Upgrade U”

A classic Beyonce and Jay-Z song. The music video put the then rumored couple’s chemistry on display. Beyonce’s imitation of Jay, while lip-synching his verse received great reception and was foreshadowing of how much Bey understood her future husband.

“Crazy In Love”

So many looks in one music video. The white tank top! The satin candy-colored cropped bomber! The bright orange dress with hoops! The white tank top!

“Check On It”

“Check On It” was one of Beyonce’s first forays into the solo music world and it didn’t disappoint. The music video gave her fans a taste of what her visual style looked like.

“APES**T”

Were you one of the only people in the world to not read about the cultural significance of Beyonce and Jay-Z’s music video being filmed at the Louvre? If you did your homework and read up, then you know why this music video is important.

“Countdown”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XY3AvVgDns

This music video showed a different side of Bey. There was still tons of dancing, but Beyonce posed as a cute ’50s mod artist than an ultra sexy high-fashion pop diva. The music video is a classic.

“7/11”

Unlike her other videos “7/11” showed a fun, carefree and dare I say, relatable side of Beyonce. The video was filmed all by the singer herself on a handheld camera and at some point with a selfie stick. The video made the day July 11 and Kale sweatshirts popular.
