How is it already August?! That means summer is coming to an end and the school year is just about to begin. Nothing screams a new school year more than new fall clothes, new school supplies, or even a new hair change. The start of the school year is a sign to have a new beginning and bring out a new you. If you want to have your best school year yet, follow these 10 tips on how to accomplish that.
1. Get Cute School Supplies
Finding cute school supplies is the perfect way to start the new school year. You will be excited to use your new planner, pens, and notebooks. Not to mention, you will get so many compliments as well. Here are some ideas.
2. Eat A Healthy Breakfast
There’s no doubt that having a good and healthy breakfast starts your day off right. If you can make the time, try to make an omelet with some veggies, oatmeal, or yogurt topped off with fruit. If you really can’t wake up earlier than you have to or you’re just not a “breakfast person,” take a protein bar to go. You should definitely eat something in the morning because you need to keep your energy up until lunchtime.
3. Organize Your Closet
I know how annoying organizing your closet is. But trust me, it will make getting ready in the morning a whole lot easier. Remember that adorable flower top you have been dying to find? It’s probably at the bottom of your mountain of clothes pile. It is the perfect way to start your year and get rid of things you don’t wear anymore. You will also have an excuse to buy new clothes because your old clothes “don’t fit you anymore” or aren’t in style.
4. Write A To-Do List
Don’t try to remember every little thing you have to do in your head, it will make you go crazy. Not to mention, you probably won’t remember everything you actually have to get done. Make your life a little easier by writing down a to-do list. You might think they won’t help, but trust me they do. It will make your life less stressful, and if you don’t have time to get everything done in one day, at least you’ll remember to do it the next day because you wrote it down!
5. Rock A New Hair-Do
Nothing starts a new school year like a new hairstyle. Whether you chop your hair, get fresh highlights, or wear your hair a new way, it is the perfect time to try something different. Check out these cool hairstyles that will make everyone gawk over your new look.

6. Find Ways To Wind Down
School can be stressful, which makes your life stressful. Finding a way to wind down is a great start to cool yourself off from stress. Whether it be binge-watching Netflix, cooking at home, or even doing yoga and breathing meditations, anything to take your mind off of school is a plus. To distract yourself even more, maybe invite a friend to do an activity with you.
7. Do The Hardest Task First
When you have a lot of work to get done, the first thing that comes to your mind is probably to get the easiest thing done first. This isn’t such a great idea because then you won’t be as motivated to get the harder things done, which leads to stress. Try to figure out what will be the hardest to accomplish and get that done first. Once you are done with that, you will have a much easier and relaxing time getting everything else done. Faster probably too.
8. Pick A Word That Suits Your New Year
Pick any word in the dictionary to help start out your year right. It should describe your new outlook for the year (positivity, courageous, fearless, etc.). Have this word written everywhere around you, such as in your notebook or on a post-it in your locker to remind you to try to live in the moment every day.
9. Talk To Your Crush
It is definitely a risk, but worth it to talk to your crush. It’s a new year, which means it’s a new you. Don’t be that shy girl who used to be afraid of everything. It doesn’t necessarily mean you have to ask them out, just make little conversation day by day. It also is a plus that the beginning of the school year makes everyone so friendly so it won’t be weird to ask him how his summer was. Saying something is better than not saying anything at all.
10. Make Memories
Start some new traditions with your friends to start the new year off well. Memories last a lifetime, and you will want to make as many as possible. Maybe it’s going to brunch with your friends on a Saturday, or having a Friday night sleepover. No matter what, you will be making good memories with your friends in any scenario. All you need is some good company!
