Lady Gaga’s movie A Star Is Born and Marvel’s Venom movie both come out Friday, October 5. Two albums dropping on the same day is normal in Hollywood. But Lady Gaga’s fans are determined to make sure A Star Is Born steals all of the spotlight.
Marvel fans are accusing Lady Gaga stans of posting fake and terrible reviews of Venom to convince people to not go see it. But the official reviews for Venom have been nothing short of good.
Rolling Stone‘s Peter Travers gave the movie one star out of five and called it the worst Marvel film of the year. The Verge‘s Bryan Bishop wrote that Venom is “a train wreck of a movie” and a “mess.” The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw also gave it one out of five stars and called the movie “clumsy” and “boring.” While Variety’s Owen Gleiberman wrote that the franchise might not liftoff like the other Marvel successes.
While A Star Is Born has been receiving high praise. On Rotten Tomatoes Venom is sitting at a lowly 32% while A Star Is Born has a 95% freshness.
But still, comic book fans believe that these poor reviews are the doing of Lady Gaga stans.

Beware of fake #Venom movie reviews. There are people trying to promote Lady Gaga's #AStarIsBorn and are fabricating negative reviews. Look out for bots and only trust proper and regular reviewers. pic.twitter.com/v9xznuN5R7

I saw #Venom last night and had to leave halfway through, my children wouldn't stop crying at how bad it was. Luckily a second pre screening of #AStarIsBorn was about to start, and now we are all crying, tears of amazement. Please pray for my eldest he is still in a coma.

BuzzFeed talked to two Lady Gaga fans who tweeted about Venom. One said it was a joke, while the other fan said the negative reviews on Twitter was a “coordinated effort” between fans.
“It’s us Gaga fans creating fake IDs to trash the Venom premiere,” the one fan told BuzzFeed. “They both are getting released on the same day, so we want more audiences for A Star Is Born.”
Is it shocking that Gaga’s Monsters, her fan group, are using the power of social media to help Gaga out? No. Stans are wild. It does seem like their negative reviews of Venom were a big troll on the movie to help bolster ticket sales for A Star Is Born. But now it seems like Venom is actually a bad movie.
