When Kylie was secretly pregnant, fans had a bunch of crazy theories about what she will name her child if she really is pregnant. Most of her fans predicted she would be naming her daughter butterfly or something in relation to the insect.
Kylie and Travis Scott’s “thing” are butterflies. They got matching butterfly tattoos when they began dating and Travis gifted Kylie a butterfly necklace and later a ring. The butterfly is in connection to Travis’ song “Butterfly Effect.” Butterflies are also featured around Kylie’s house and in the baby room.
After news broke that Kylie and Travis named their daughter Stormi, fans began to reach to relate the name back to the butterfly effect.
So the new theory is that the term butterfly effect means that a small occurrence can have a domino effect and have a larger effect changing the outcome of a huge event. The Butterfly Effect’s direct example is that a butterfly flapping its wings in New Mexico can eventually cause a storm in China.

All of this seems like a reach, but Kylie just confirmed this fan theory. Kylie posted a photo of herself in one of her Halloween costumes, a pink butterfly. She wore a pale pink metallic bodysuit, huge pink wings and pink lace-up heels with pink butterflies on the laces. She captioned the photo “Butterfly Effect”

She then posted a photo with her and Stormi in a matching pink butterfly costume. The photo is captioned “my baby butterfly.”

Kylie followed up that post with a close up of Stormi’s adorable butterfly costume.

Now fans are convinced their butterfly effect theory about Stormi’s name is true.
But in Kylie’s cameo on James Charles’ YouTube channel, she explained how she came up with the name Stormi. She told James, “I was just looking at nature names, like weather and like earth. Storm was on there, just Storm. I was kind of like ‘oh I want an -ie like me,’ so then I did Stormie with an -ie.”
After Stormi was born Kylie changed the spelling to -i and that is how Stormi was born.
