Have you recently ordered the latest Amazon deal and skimped out on the 2-day free delivery? Well, Veterans Day 2018 is right around the corner on Sunday, November 11, 2018, so the package might not be arriving until after the holiday weekend. Numerous sites, such as Amazon and Groupon have released coupons and sales for the upcoming holiday that commemorates veterans.
Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on November 11, 1919, which marks the first anniversary of the end of World War I. It became a national holiday in 1938 and the name was later changed to Veterans Day in 1954 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Veterans Day is celebrated on November 11th because major conflicts of World War I ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 when the Armistice went into effect. Great Britain, France, Australia, and Canada also celebrate the veterans on Remembrance Day, which is on or near November 11th.
