Christmas is around the corner. But wait, there’s something approaching as well right before the great holiday. That’s right, it’s Festivus!
Festivus was originally created by author Daniel O’Keefe but entered popular culture after it was made the focus of the 1997 Seinfeld episode “The Strike,” which O’Keefe’s son, Dan O’Keefe, co-wrote. This made-up holiday is still celebrated two decades after the episode was aired. Festivus celebration, as depicted on Seinfeld, occurs on December 23 and includes a Festivus dinner, an unadorned aluminum Festivus pole, practices such as the “Airing of Grievances,” “Feats of Strength” and the labeling of easily explainable events as “Festivus miracles.”
As the episode refers to it as “a Festivus for the rest of us,” here are 20 funny and creative tweets that show the spirit of Festivus.
