Meghan Markle has glowy amazing skin and it’s not just because she’s basking in her pregnancy post-marrying a royal glow. Meghan has always had amazing skin.
It’s glowy, dewy, poreless perfect and is enviable. Thankfully her facialist opened up to Refinery29 about a DIY mask he would use on Meghan to help get her perfect glowy skin. Thankfully this DIY mask won’t set you back a ton of money.
Nichola Joss is the person behind Meghan’s skin. She also works with Priyanka Chopra and Gwyneth Paltrow along with the Duchess.
“At home face masks are amazing, and I fully endorse them,” she told Refinery29. “They’re easy, free, and you have full control of the ingredients you’re putting on your skin – which is why most of my clients love them.”
Joss has five universal ingredients that she swears by for at home masks. Bonus, these ingredients are super universal and cheap so you can get royal skin on a budget.
Coconut Oil
Is there anything coconut oil can’t do? Joss claims that this oil is perfect for the base of masks.
“It mixes well with other ingredients to create a soothing, paste-like consistency,” she says.
Tumeric
Tumeric is the second ingredient Joss loves to use in masks.
“Tumeric is an amazing ingredient with a lot of skin benefits; it’s calming and helps relieve inflammation and congestion,” she says. “Tumeric mixed with coconut oil is a simple recipe that works to both brighten and hydrate the skin.”
Just be careful because turmeric stains!
Oats
Rolled oats aren’t just a healthy breakfast choice. Rolled oats are also great for your skin, hello oat baths from your childhood. But instead of soaking them, Joss suggests using them raw as a gentle exfoliation.
“Oats act as a gentle physical exfoliant and work wonders on the skin when blended with a liquified base like coconut oil or honey,” Joss told Refinery29.
Honey
Speaking of honey, it’s also one of Joss’ must have DIY face masks ingredients. Honey helps soothe dry and irritated skin. It’s also very moisturizing. Like Joss said before, you can combine raw honey with raw oats for a moisturizing, soothing and gentle exfoliator.
Egg Whites
Egg whites might seem crazy to put on your face but trust Joss. There’s a protein in egg whites called Albumin that helps tighten your pores and clear blackheads.
“Egg whites help with brightening the skin,” Joss also adds.
