Missing Teen Jayme Closs Was Found Alive After 3 Months

Jayme Closs, 13-year-old Wisconsin girl, was found alive after “missing and endangered” for three months.

In October 2018 her parents were found dead in their home. Jayme was nowhere to be found until now.

“On Thursday evening the Barron County Sherrif’s Department was notified by the Douglas CO WI Sheriff’s Department that they had located Jayme Closs alive,” Barron County Sherrif’s Department said in a statement.

“Shortly after this a suspect was taken into custody in regards to this case. We do not [sic] any other details at this time as this is a very fluid and active investigation. We will not be answering any questions or taking calls on this tonight,” Sherriff Fitzgerald continued in the statement.

“We promised to bring Jayme home and tonight we get to fulfill that promise,” the statement concluded.

The Barron County Sherrif’s Department held a press conference the next morning. The authorities have not specified where or how Jayme was found. The name of the suspect also hasn’t been released.

According to the Star Tribune, Closs was found by Kristina Kasinskas’ neighbor in Gordon, Wisconsin–about 70 miles north of where she was last seen. Kasinskas told the Star Tribune that her neighbor knocked on her door and “standing with her was a skinny, dirty girl with matted hair, wearing shoes too big for her feet.”

The neighbor didn’t want her name to be used and that she was “exhausted and unnerved” by the day.

Jayme’s aunt, Jen Smith, told ABC’s Good Morning America that Jayme escaped from where she was being held. The police confirmed that she escaped, but gave no details. According to the Star Tribune, the police are investigating a cabin near the area where Jayme was discovered for evidence. The cabin supposedly belongs to the suspect they brought in.

On October 15, 2018, Jayme disappeared from her home, where her parents, James and Denise, were found dead. Her parents were shot to death. Since then no one had heard or even spotted Jayme since now.

According to ABC News, the 21-year-old suspect has been identified as Jake Thomas Patterson of Gordon, Wisconsin. Patterson has been charged with the kidnapping of Jayme and murdering her parents.

Patterson does not have a criminal history.
