Penn Badgley’s breakout role was Dan Humphrey on The CW’s hit show “Gossip Girl.” He has also starred in a number of films, including John Tucker Must Die and Easy A. Recently Badgley starred as Joe Goldberg, the obsessive stalker of originally Lifetime, now Netflix show “You.”
But who exactly has been Penn been involved with over the years? Let’s take a page from Joe Goldberg and do some research.
Blake Lively: 2007-2010
This secret relationship between Gossip Girl co-stars lasted about three years. Lively and Badgley—aka Serena van der Woodsen and Dan Humphrey—were initially concerned about having a personal relationship while working on the same show. However, Lively reveals those behind the show were satisfied by the news.
“I remember there was one point where we were just afraid of how our personal lives overlapping our work life could be perceived by our bosses,” Lively tells Elle. “[But then] we were like, ‘Oh no, that’s exactly what they want.’ They wanted us all to date… because then it fed their whole narrative. People could buy into this world.”
Though the two did eventually end their romance, the pair had kept their break-up a secret from the rest of the cast and crew for the rest of the season. True performers.
Zoë Kravitz: 2011-2013
About a year after his break-up with Lively, Badgley began seeing Zoë Kravitz. The couple made their debut in 2011, around the time of Kravitz’s role in X-Men: First Class. Unlike Badgley’s counterpart Joe, he and Kravitz actually shared a New York City apartment for a few years.
Two years later, the two decided to end their relationship. A source told Us Weekly, “It wasn’t a sad breakup…They are at two different stages in their careers. They just didn’t have time for each other.”
Domino Kirke: 2014-Present
In her teen years, Kirke formed the band DOMINO, which toured for three years and was featured in Lena Dunham’s indie movie Tiny Furniture. Kirke is also the co-founder of Carriage House Birth, providing several doula services for pregnant women (a “doula” being a woman that provides guidance and support to a pregnant woman during labor).
To this day, Kirke and Badgley have kept most aspects of their relationship low-key, including their origins (ironically, Badgley has emphasized his dislike of social media).
Kirke told Hey Mama that at their relationship’s start, “I was sort of getting used to being a single mom…Penn and I were dating, but it wasn’t nearly as serious as it is now, of course.”
Growing up alongside her sisters Jemima and Lola, both actors in her family, Kirke was surprised that she fell in love with one herself. “I was like, ‘Ugh, actors’…and then I married an actor,” she told WWD.
The couple was actually married twice: the first time in February 2017, and the second in June 2017. Their first ceremony was an intimate event, a courthouse ceremony in Brooklyn where they exchanged vows in front of their circle of family and friends. Afterward, they had their bigger celebration in June in upstate New York, with celebrity guests like Debra Messing, Mariska Hargitay, and Zac Posen.
Penn Badgley and Domino Kirke are happily married from 2017 till the date after three years of successfully dating.
