Gwyneth Paltrow Sued For $3.1 Million Over Ski Crash

Gwyneth Paltrow is being sued for $3.1 million for crashing into a Utah doctor at a Park City ski resort in 2016.

The doctor, Terry Sanderson filed the lawsuit Tuesday in Utah state court stating that Paltrow was skiing out of control and knocked him out, leaving him with a brain injury and four broken ribs.

The alleged incident happened on February 26, 2016, on a beginner slope at Deer Valley Resort. Sanderson’s lawsuit claims that Paltrow was skiing “out of control” and “too fast for her ability” and “was distracted” when she ran into him. He described the incident as “a hit-and-run ski crash at Deer Valley, Utah.”

When Paltrow hit him, “knocking him down, landing on top of him, and causing him to suffer a concussion, brain injury and four broken ribs.”

The lawsuit then claims that “Paltrow got up, turned and skied away, leaving Sanderson stunned, lying in the snow.”

The doctor also claims that the Deer Valley ski instructor, Eric Christiansen, who accompanied the actress, filed a false report saying Paltrow wasn’t the one who caused the crash. Christiansen, Deer Valley Resort and two other unnamed resort employees are also being sued.

A rep for Paltrow told People, “This lawsuit is completely without merit. Anyone who read the facts will realize that.”

Sanderson is asking for damages in excess of $3.1 million.
