It’s that time of year again where you can’t walk into Target without being attacked by pink and red, chocolates or heart-shaped trinkets. I’m gonna share a few V-day tips and activities for anyone flying solo this year, or looking for productive ways to spend the day that don’t involve emotionally attaching yourself to Elle Woods and Bruiser (love you, Elle).

Pamper Sesh

We can all use a little TLC from time to time. This option is great because you can head to the salon or have a DIY day. I’m partial to the latter because saving money is always a good idea. You can easily kill two to three hours doing a manicure, pedicure, face masks, taking a bath and snuggling up with a book. Sometimes the best way to spend some time alone is to do exactly that and completely unplug.

Pre-Spring Cleaning

Remember putting “clean out the closet” on your to-do list back in October? Don’t worry, I’m right there with you. Or maybe your junk drawer could use a really good look through. Whatever it may be, consider getting done that thing you’ve been wanting to since before life and school got so crazy. You deserve to tick it off your list! And you’ll be free to tackle other, more exciting things once it’s out of mind and out of sight.

Café Hopping

Get up, get ready, and put on a cute outfit. Bring your laptop, journal, planner or a book/magazine and go to come coffee spots you’ve been meaning to check out. Drink a different drink at each place or try something from the menu you’ve never tried before. Whether you have some work to get done or just want to unwind with a gingerbread latte and read about the latest Kardashian scandal, getting out of the house to do so always feels good. I always find myself more productive when I’m not in my sweats all curled up and cozy.

Solo Adventure

We all have cool outdoor spots around us. For some it’s hikes or parks, maybe for you, it’s a beach or river. If the weather permits you to get outside, do it! You might even discover somewhere you never knew existed that you can pass along to friends and enjoy together. If you can’t make it outside but still want to get out of the house, check for local workout studios, wine tastings, painting or pottery classes—whatever piques your interest. A lot of places offer free “first time” coupons, so why not take advantage? And if you’re not quite ready for the solo adventure, invite some girlfriends to join you and see where the day takes you!

Hopefully, you now have some ideas on how to stay busy this V-day and make it your best one yet. Whether you’re single or simply unable to spend the day with your gals or significant other, put the caramel truffles down and give one of these a shot. Much love!
