The Fyre Festival is the poster child for scams and fraud. The most recent development in the legal battle post-Fyre Festival is the models from the promotional video are being subpoenaed for their payments.
On February 6, Hailey Bieber (neé Baldwin) went on The Late Late Show With James Corden and while playing “Spill Your Guts of Fill Your Guts” she was asked about her Fyre money.
The game is that the guest, Bieber, and James Corden take turns asking each other very hard questions. If they choose not to answer them they must eat the gross food that’s in front of them.
Corden wasted no time asking Bieber about Fyre Festival.
“Hailey, how much money did you get to appear in the Fyre Festival promo?” Corden asks through stifled laughter.
Bieber is a good sport and lets the audience laugh at her expense. She doesn’t reveal how much she made off of the promotional video, but she does share what she did with her chunk of change.
“I am not going to share [the amount], but it made for a very generous donation to charity,” Bieber revealed.
Corden asked her if she donated the money after she saw how the festival turned out and she agreed that’s exactly what went down. She didn’t reveal which charity she donated to.
Billy McFarland, the creator of the festival, spent $11.3 million leading up to the festival. A court-appointed liquidation trustee is currently trying to figure out how McFarland and where it went. Models alongside Bieber who are getting subpoenaed are Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Elsa HOsk and Emily Ratajkowski.
Supposedly IMG Models, who represent Hadid, Bieber and Hosk, received a total of $1.2 million from McFarland. Who knows how much of that ended up in Bieber’s hands but it’s off to charity now.
