Despite the everyday hustle and bustle of New York City, this week the streets are especially packed with fashion-forward designers, celebs, and other fashionistas. While coverage of the runway shows is important, the other half of coverage comes from what attendees are wearing themselves. Get yourself a fancy fit or two and hit the streets of Manhattan to feel like you’re a part of the action.
While a majority of the events are invite-only, some designers do host open-to-the-public viewings. If you aren’t able to make it to a public event, you can follow all the action of NYFW on their official Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
What’s trending this season:

NYFW sets the tone for the trends of the upcoming season. Usually, the looks we see at Fashion Week are outrageous, but this year Tom Ford made a statement by noting that this season is all about simplicity. So far on the runway, we have seen a lot of crisp and clean looks. Also, expect to see statement shoes and power colors. Ralph Lauren stuck to simple monochromatic looks with accents of gold on each outfit. While Tom Ford sent his models down the runway rocking chic silk outfits. Some of Tom Ford’s signature looks included red velvet jackets, colorful silk gowns and fur hats. While there is still a full week to go, we can imagine a lot of the collections will resemble these trend-setters.
Who’s walking:

Hollywood is filled with supermodels who live for NYFW. Two of Hollywood’s most famous models, Bella and Gigi Hadid were seen walking the runway. Bella Hadid walked for Ralph Lauren while Gigi showed off her catwalk in Tom Ford. Not to mention, Laverne Cox shut down the runway on opening night in a gorgeous red gown. Besides these stars, there are many other supermodels that you should keep an eye out for on the runway, including Kristina Grikaite, Yoonmi Sun and Noah Carlos.
