New York Fashion Week 2019: Everything You Need To Know

From the Grammy’s to the Oscars, February is a busy month for celebrities. But between all the award ceremonies and red carpet appearances, celebrities take one week out of the month to head to the big apple to focus on nothing but fashion. New York Fashion Week. Whether they are walking the runway or sitting front row, it’s a time for celebs to put on their best outfit and celebrate fashion.

Check out this who, what, wear guide to New York Fashion Week 2019:

New York Fashion Week 2019 Details:

When: Wednesday, February 6, 2019- Wednesday, February 13, 2019. A full schedule of events is available here
Where: Shows are mainly held at Spring Studios, 6 St. Johns Lane in Tribeca.
Where to watch: Live streaming is available on the official website of NYFW

What to expect:

NYFW 2019 will include fall/winter runway collections and ready-to-wear styles from a range of well known and less well-known designers. Expect to see anything from streetwear looks to ballgowns. Some designers include Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, Nicole Miller, Kate Spade, Rebecca Minkoff and many more. Just like the trends, the designers set to appear at New York Fashion week are always changing.  This year, Victoria Beckham, a familiar face in fashion, is not in attendance.

How to be a part of NYFW:

Despite the everyday hustle and bustle of New York City, this week the streets are especially packed with fashion-forward designers, celebs, and other fashionistas. While coverage of the runway shows is important, the other half of coverage comes from what attendees are wearing themselves. Get yourself a fancy fit or two and hit the streets of Manhattan to feel like you’re a part of the action.

While a majority of the events are invite-only, some designers do host open-to-the-public viewings. If you aren’t able to make it to a public event, you can follow all the action of NYFW on their official Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

What’s trending this season:

NYFW sets the tone for the trends of the upcoming season.  Usually, the looks we see at Fashion Week are outrageous, but this year Tom Ford made a statement by noting that this season is all about simplicity. So far on the runway, we have seen a lot of crisp and clean looks. Also, expect to see statement shoes and power colors. Ralph Lauren stuck to simple monochromatic looks with accents of gold on each outfit.  While Tom Ford sent his models down the runway rocking chic silk outfits. Some of Tom Ford’s signature looks included red velvet jackets, colorful silk gowns and fur hats. While there is still a full week to go, we can imagine a lot of the collections will resemble these trend-setters.

Who’s walking:

Hollywood is filled with supermodels who live for NYFW. Two of Hollywood’s most famous models, Bella and Gigi Hadid were seen walking the runway. Bella Hadid walked for Ralph Lauren while Gigi showed off her catwalk in Tom Ford.  Not to mention, Laverne Cox shut down the runway on opening night in a gorgeous red gown. Besides these stars, there are many other supermodels that you should keep an eye out for on the runway, including Kristina Grikaite, Yoonmi Sun and Noah Carlos.

Who’s attending:

Some celebrities are more passionate about fashion than others, and for the ones that are, you know they are sitting front row at NYFW. To kick off opening night stars came from all over to celebrate. From athletes to actors, some of the A-list celebrities include Kourtney and Kim Kardashian West, Bella Thorne, Odell Beckham Jr., Cam Newton, Jonathan Cheban and so many more.
